The Homeless Resource Council of the Sierras launched the coordinated entry system in January 2018.
This coordinated system provides a telephone hotline that serves as a centralized gateway for people who are homeless and in need of services in the two-county area.
People who are homeless may call 1-833-3PLACER (1-833-375-2237) in Placer County, and 2-1-1 in Nevada County. Callers will be asked several questions to determine their eligibility for various housing programs. Their needs will be shared with participating Homeless Resource Council of the Sierras' homeless service providers.
The Homeless Resource Helplines service will help homeless service agencies throughout Placer and Nevada Counties better coordinate services and prioritize needs. Homeless individuals will have their needs assessed in a consistent manner, and the confidential data will be placed into a centralized database, the Homeless Management Information System. The helpline is also available in Spanish.
